Cost Chart

The Cost chart displays cost over time. The chart uses the Work remaining, End date and Status fields on an activity. The chart also needs the Resource Cost for the calculation. The chart displays:

  • Actual Cost - Cumulated cost of completed activities.
  • Planned Cost- Cumulated cost of all activities in the selected project.
  • Baseline Cost - Cumulated cost of all activities in the baseline of the the selected project, if there is a baseline.

Note that the Baseline Cost line uses the current Resource Cost.


How to create an Cost chart

Follow the steps below to create a new Cost chart.

  1. Make sure that all resources have a defined cost by setting the Cost field.
  2. Create a new View by clicking the New view button in the Views tab. Enter a name for the new View.
  3. Hide all parent activities by creating a filter. Click the Edit filter button and set Sub activities to No before pressing Apply followed by Close.
  4. Click the Select view type button and select Cost chart.
